Krypton ApplicationsApplications
The main field of application is light bulb manufacture. Krypton bulbs gradually replace those filled with Ar-N2 mixture. Krypton advantages are obvious: it is 2.1 times heavier than argon with significantly lower thermoconductivity. This inhibits pulverizing if incandescent tungsten filament which increases luminous flux. Low thermoconductivity in its turn increases the share of visible light in bulb emission. Bulb power grows on 5 - 15% and durability 40 - 170%. In addition, the bulb volume decreases twice.
Krypton's white discharge is often used in low pressure gas discharge tube as well as in high-pressure construction lamps used in industrial facilities, television studios and in cinematographic production. Some of them may serve as infrared emission source. |
